The Second Session of the 109th Congress has seen robust activity in advancing  HIT legislation, concluding with a "lame duck" session in mid-November. For a crosswalk of key legislation for 2006, click here

Health-e-LA™ periodically addresses legislative topics that relate to e-health.  In the current legislative session, the Coalition is supporting A.B. 225 (Negrete McLeod), which is sponsored by L.A. Care Health Plan.  The purpose of A.B. 225 is to amend California Business and Professions Code section 650 to ensure that California law does not act as an unnecessary impediment to the increased use of computer and digitized technologies for medical prescriptions (“e-prescribing”).  In a framework encouraged by federal law, A.B. 225 would clarify that certain healthcare providers can be supplied with hardware and software by other providers or administrators under certain circumstances for purposes of promoting e-prescribing.
